12 Most Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir Photography

Downtown Seattle Boudoir Hotel Vintage

For many women who have never had this type of experience before, boudoir photography can be really nerve-wracking and scary! When I talk to them about their session, I receive all sorts of frequently asked questions, so I wanted to make a list to help give insight about what to prepare for your own boudoir photoshoot.

Do you share my images?

My number one priority is that you feel comfortable! Boudoir is an intimate and transformational experience. You won’t leave the same woman you came as, that’s for sure! But sometimes, you are still learning to love every piece of yourself and your body and you’re not quite ready to share your photos with the world, or maybe these are personal images that are for your partner’s eyes only. These are all great reasons to not want to share, and I will always respect them. I will ask your permission first, and only share what you are comfortable with!

Do I have to wear lingerie?

The beauty of boudoir is that it can be just as unique and creative as you are! You don’t have to specifically wear lingerie. What you choose to wear depends on your personality and comfort level. There are a BUNCH of outfit ideas other than lacy little garments to wear for your boudoir session.

Do you have payment plans?

I offer a few payment options! There is a booking retainer to book your shoot, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the date of your boudoir experience. If you prefer to have more time to pay off the shoot, we can schedule it a few months out and you can pay it off in payments! I also accept PayPal Credit as an option, where you can book your session as you want and make your payments to them, so there’s no need to have it paid off prior to your shoot.

Is hair and makeup included?

Yes! I believe that the full experience of transforming and embodying the divine goddess within you starts with feeling pampered and beautiful on the outside. My amazing team will help you complete the look that suits you best, whether that is a more natural “I just woke up like this” look, or full glam! You are welcome to bring any ideas or inspiration for makeup and hair that you want!

Do you Photoshop my images?

I believe that you are divinely created and gorgeous just as you are, and a boudoir photo session is about celebrating, honoring, accepting and loving your body. It is to show yourself that you are perfect, and you are enough. I do not use Photoshop to alter your body in any way because of that same message: I do not believe that you need a bigger/smaller/tighter/looser anything in order to be worthy of self-love, self-acceptance, and self-confidence.

Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing unique beauty also means not denying or erasing the parts of you that you don’t like. However, I understand that there might be parts of you that you are still learning to love, and that’s ok! I am skilled in lighting and posing to make you look like a sexy, sensual, fiercely beautiful goddess and highlight your favorite features!

Where I do not edit “out” anything that is permanent, I do edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance.

Where should I buy my outfits?

There are a few places to buy outfits from for your shoot! Here is a short list of places online that you can choose various styles and sizing! Victoria’s Secret, Forever21, Adoreme.com, Aerie, Forever Yours Lingerie, Hips and Curves, and Jasmine Stacey Collection. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I might know where to get it!

What type of print products do you have?

I offer a variety of gorgeous luxury leather covered albums, sexy metal wall prints, and beautiful folio boxes with prints in them! Most of my clients choose to purchase albums with wall prints – there’s something so powerful about holding an entire book in your hand, running your fingers along the thick paper, and seeing your goddess-ness in all her glory splayed out in every page!

Do you offer digitals?

All of my packages offer some sort of print product and some include the digitals of the images that were selected for the albums, but there is also an A La Carte list that you can choose from as well to personalize what you receive! On this list I have an option to add digital images. These will come in a private, secure online gallery for you to download and share.

I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?!

Nerves are totally normal and part of the transformational human experience to uplevel and unleash the higher goddess within! But rest assured, I am here to guide and encourage you through every moment of your boudoir session so that you feel comfortable, confident, empowered, beautiful and sexy!

How many outfits should I bring?

During a boudoir session, we are typically able to shoot 3-4 outfits, but definitely bring as many as you can! We will decide which ones you’ll actually wear before the shoot begins. I encourage you to try on each outfit prior to your session to be certain that they fit your body shape and size.

Should I get to my shoot early?

You should always plan on getting to your shoot about 15 minutes early so we can talk about your outfits, colors, and make a plan for your hair and makeup!

Where do you shoot your boudoir sessions?

I currently do not own a studio, and rent hotel rooms in downtown Seattle and Bellevue to shoot in. I am happy to travel to your city, and potentially in your own bedroom! All I would just need to pre-approve your space to ensure that it would be the best location for you.
